Statement on Behalf of the San Diego Chargers
The Chargers today announced the appointment of Fred Maas as Special Advisor to Chargers' Chairman Dean Spanos. Mr. Maas, the former Chairman of San Diego's Centre City Development Corporation, will advise Spanos and the Chargers on the Citizens' Initiative process, including the exploration of possible stadium financing plans that would be publicly acceptable, the drafting of the initiative document, and the creation of the campaign infrastructure necessary to give the Citizens' Initiative the best possible chance of success. Mr. Maas will be working closely with an established team of legal, financial and land use advisors.

Fredric Maas is currently the President and Managing Director of MRV Systems LLC, a manufacturer of marine robotic vehicles for the oceanographic, intelligence and defense industries and is the Founder and CEO of Pacific EcoCompanies LLC, an investment and advisory firm focused on clean technologies and sustainable development. He previously served as a principal in the real estate and land development business. In that capacity, he was a partner at Potomac Sports Properties, exclusive developer of the PGA TOUR's Tournament Player Club communities, and was the developer of Black Mountain Ranch in the city of San Diego, site of the Santaluz and Del Sur neighborhoods. He also served as the Chairman and CEO of the Centre City Development Corporation, downtown San Diego's redevelopment arm, for several years during its tenure, and served as Mayor Jerry Sanders advisor on a downtown sports and entertainment district. For the past 30 years, he has served as a consultant and advisor to numerous political campaigns for federal, state and local offices.
