Chargers Agree to Terms with DT Damion Square

The San Diego Chargers agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Damion Square, keeping the defensive tackle in the fold for 2016.

Square initially joined the Bolts off waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs in 2014, but did not see any action.  The 6-2, 293-pound product out of Alabama began 2015 on the practice squad before being promoted to the active roster in early November.  Square appeared in six games with one start, totaling six tackles, three pressures, two QB hits and one fumble recovered.  He began his career in 2013 as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Square is the seventh player the Chargers have added during the free agency period. The team also signed wide receiver Travis Benjamin (Cleveland Browns), nose tackle Brandon Mebane (Seattle Seahawks) and free safety Dwight Lowery (Indianapolis Colts), and retained right tackle Joe Barksdale, tight end Antonio Gates and quarterback Kellen Clemens.
