The San Diego Chargers will take the field wearing special Color Rush uniforms when they host the Denver Broncos on Thursday, Oct. 13 at Qualcomm Stadium with kickoff set for 5:25 p.m. PST.
Chargers Helmet Magnets will be passed out to all fans entering the stadium, presented by Aquafina.
The Chargers also will celebrate the rich history, heritage and tradition of Latinos as part of Hispanic Heritage month. The Chargers will honor Raymond Uzeta, President and CEO of The Chicano Federation, as the recipient of the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award. He became involved in non-profit organizations in 1974 and has worked for five non-profits throughout California in various management positions. Since July of 1991, he has been the President and CEO of the Chicano Federation of San Diego County, which has been serving the community since 1969. Current services include childcare, youth and senior services, leadership and small business training, and housing development. In addition to his responsibilities at the Federation, Raymond serves on several local boards and advisory committees such as Nonprofit Management Solutions and Health Way of San Diego County. The award recognizes the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market.
United States Marine Corps Sergeant Major Jerry Gomes will be honored at the Salute to Service Moment, presented by USAA. Sergeant Major Gomes has served for more than 23 years where he currently serves as the Marine Aircraft Group 13 Sergeant Major, Third Marine Aircraft Wing. He has been deployed eight times, including multiple deployments to Japan, Iraq and Afghanistan. He has received numerous awards and achievements, including a combat action ribbon, Meritorious Service medals, Navy Commendation medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal and Good Conduct medal, along with many others.
The Frog X parachute team, featuring retired navy seals, will be landing into Qualcomm Stadium prior to kickoff.
The National Anthem will be performed by Anne Cochran while the colors are presented by the United States Marine Corps Reserves. The March Air Reserve Base will conduct a military flyover.
Halftime festivities will feature performances by Mariachi Real de San Diego and Ballet Xochitl, a traditional ballet folklorico group. Mariachi Real has performed for two Super Bowls, the World Series, the All-Star Game and countless festivals and special events for international corporations and dignitaries.
