The Chargers came out on top in Sunday's 33-30 overtime thriller in Atlanta, and now a pair of defensive standouts are up for notable awards.
Joey Bosa has been nominated for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week. Number 99 had a pair of second half sacks on back-to-back drives to bring his total to four in just three games. His seven-yard sack on third down came on the final play of the third quarter and forced a punt. On the next series, he helped hold Atlanta to a field goal after he dropped Matt Ryan for a loss of three. Bosa is the first NFL player since Elvis Dumervil in 2006 to log a pair of multi-sack games in his first three NFL games. He is the only player in Chargers history to accomplish that feat. Bosa also led the team with in QB hits (three) and pressures (three).

Meanwhile, Denzel Perryman is up for the Castrol Edge Clutch Performer of Week 7 after coming up big when the Bolts needed him most. Down three late in regulation, he picked off Matt Ryan for his first career interception which allowed the Chargers to tie the game with 22 seconds remaining. Later, he knifed through the line of scrimmage to tackle Devonta Freeman behind the sticks on 4th-and-1 in overtime, allowing San Diego to win the game a few plays later on Josh Lambo's 42-yard field goal.
