After taking over the starting left guard position for the final nine games of the season, Dan Feeney's performance helped him lock up Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie Team honors. This is the third-straight year a Charger has made PFWA's All-Rookie Team.
Feeney helped bolster a line that allowed the fewest sacks in the NFL (18). Additionally, the Chargers ended up with the league's top-ranked passing offense, and won six of their last nine games after Feeney took the reins after Matt Slauson was placed on the Reserve-Injured list.
Philip Rivers finished 2017 with one of his best seasons as a pro and admitted the rookie's play helped him and his offense as a whole.
"You lose Matt, who was a heck of a player for us, but you have a young guy, Dan Feeney, who really is going to be one of those ascending players," Rivers said. "He's getting better every week, and he really loves it. He did a nice job."
