That's a wrap on Chargers minicamp.
The Bolts held their third and final mandatory practice Thursday, going for less than an hour in a non-padded session.
The Chargers are slated to hold three more voluntary Organized Team Activity practices next week.
Here are three observations from Thursday's minicamp practice:
1. Herbert throws 4 TDs in red zone
The Chargers primarily focused on 7-on-7 drills in Thursday's session, which included lots of work in the red zone.
In other words, it was Justin Herbert's time to shine.
The Chargers quarterback thrived in the surrounding as he threw four total touchdown passes, including back-to-back scores early on in the drill.
Herbert opened the drill with three straight completions as he found Derius Davis, Will Dissly and rookie Oronde Gadsden for short gains.
He then threaded a pass to Quentin Johnston in the back of the end zone for an 8-yard score before finding Jalen Reagor on a crossing route for a 4-yard touchdown on the next play.
Herbert's 3-yard pass to Johnston on the ensuing play was incomplete due to strong coverage from Cam Hart.
Gadsden, by the way, later ran a smooth corner route to pop open for a 20-yard gain from Taylor Heinicke and the reserve offensive group.
But Herbert soon returned to the field and fired an 8-yard touchdown pass to Ladd McConkey before the duo connected again on the final play for the top offense.
With Daiyan Henley and Tony Jefferson in coverage on McConkey, Herbert zipped a low pass into McConkey for a 5-yard touchdown.
Henley vocally disputed the result of the play immediately after and in a post-practice press conference.
Rookie quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei also threw a touchdown in a 7-on-7 rep as he found tight end McCallan Castles down the seam for a 31-yard score against the reserve defense.
2. James makes play of the day
While Herbert and the offense found the end zone plenty Thursday, the best solo effort of the day came from Derwin James, Jr.
Quarterback Trey Lance tried to rip a pass down the seam as James was in coverage against a receiver. But the All-Pro safety shipped his head around at the last second and deflected the ball to himself.
James then juggled the pigskin but secured the catch while falling to the ground for a acrobatic interception.
James was the star of the show in Tuesday's practice and once again showed why he was an All-Pro last year and remains one of the league's top defensive playmakers.
3. Odds and ends
Here are a few more tidbits from the shorter session Thursday at The Bolt.
Zion Johnson took reps at center while Bradley Bozeman lined up at left guard in team drills. The duo were in those positions Tuesday but switched spots on Wednesday.
Mekhi Becton is obviously the starter at right guard but Karsen Barnhart filled in there a for a few plays in team drills.
Cameron Dicker made six of seven field goal tries in team drills at the end of practice. He made 15 of 17 kicks over the past two days.
