Because pets are an important contribution to a thriving family unit, we connect fans and community members to organizations and services to improve their quality of life. Since 2020, the Bolts have strategically partnered with local shelters, rescues, and nonprofits to raise awareness for animal welfare causes and initiatives. Through these partnerships, the team has hosted and supported pet adoptions, pet wellness events and spay and neuter clinics.

333 dogs from local shelters and rescues found their fur-ever home and were adopted during Chargers sponsored pet adoption events in 2023.

The Bolts have featured four animals as the team's Chargers Pup. The program highlights the importance of service animals and the agency these pups bring to their human companions in our community.

Pet Wellness

Nearly 500 pets received wellness and hygiene services during Chargers sponsored Wellness Clinics in 2023. Wellness services are hosted in local communities and rescues to assist local families keep their families together.

23 shelter and rescue dogs were featured as the Chargers' Most Valuable Pups of the game during the 2023 season. The program highlights local adoptable animals and raises awareness for the important work of shelters and rescues throughout Southern California at all home games. Be sure to look for them on gameday!

Introducing River, the newest Chargers Pup in partnership with Paws for Life K9 Rescue

The Chargers visited California Medical Facility to observe Chargers Pup, River, in training and meet with prison administration and Paws for Life K9 Rescue dog trainers. Beginning in 2020, the Chargers Pup program has followed a service animal in training to highlight the importance of these dogs for people with disabilities. River is specifically being trained to become a service animal for a military Veteran with PTSD and will be the face of the team's animal welfare work this season.

Chargers Pup Brisket Graduates!

The official Chargers Pup, Brisket, reached a major milestone in his journey to become a service animal and graduated from puppy training. For the next five to nine months, Brisket will go through a final round of professional training at a regional training center with nonprofit, Canine Companions, with the goal of officially becoming a service animal for a person with disabilities.
