Two drives.
Two touchdowns.
Six passes.
Six completions.
With that, Head Coach Anthony Lynn saw all he needed to out of Philip Rivers, removing number 17 from the game with 1:09 left in the first quarter. In all likelihood, it's the last we'll see of Rivers until the Week 1 opener in Denver.
After all, there's nothing more the team needs to see out of the franchise quarterback.
Rivers earned a perfect 158.3 passer rating against the Rams, going six-for-six for 85 yards and one touchdown. He completed all four passes thrown in Keenan Allen's direction for 37 yards, including a 17-yard dart to the Rams' seven-yard line on 3rd-and-6.
Still, the highlight of Rivers' day was a 45-yard touchdown strike to Travis Benjamin on the opening drive of the game. On 3rd-and-5, the offensive line gave Benjamin enough time to separate downfield, and the QB rewarded the effort with a picture-perfect throw, hitting the speedster in stride.
Including his lone drive two weeks ago against the Seattle Seahawks, Rivers is 11-for-12 for 141 yards and two TDs this preseason.
