The Bolts welcomed back a key player in the secondary ahead of the final week of the regular season.
The Chargers opened the 21-day practice window for safety Alohi Gilman on Wednesday, as he was a limited participant in his return to the field.
His return comes at a time when the safety room has seen some their fair share of injuries with Marcus Maye and Elijah Molden being placed on Injured Reserve in the last two weeks.
Ahead of the regular season finale, Gilman is ready to go.
"He's communicated that he's ready to roll," Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said about Gilman.
Gilman landed on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury and has not played since Week 12 against the Ravens.
And after missing over a month of action, the veteran safety was excited and felt good in his return to the practice field.
"It was fun, I'm really grateful," Gilman said after practice. "Felt like it's been a while, just happy to be out there with the guys. I felt right back at home, so it was an easy transition."
He later added: "I feel good, healthy. I'm excited to get back out there."
Gilman started all 10 games he has played this year, racking up 47 total tackles (31 solo), four passes defensed, a sack and an interception.
While it was difficult for him to miss some time during a crucial stretch of the season for the Bolts, he said he returns wanting to make the best out of every day.
"It's tough because you work really hard on your craft to prepare for these big games," Gilman said. "Also just seeing my teammates out there, you want to the best for them.
"I'm just excited to be back out there again," Gilman added. "Nothing is promised, so I'm just taking every day one day at a time and enjoying every second."
If Gilman's return does come in Week 18, the veteran will have one game to get geared up for the playoffs.
But even with only the finale left in the regular season, he says the preparation remains the same.
"You try to prepare each week like it's the same," Gilman said. "Every game means something. Every opportunity, especially when you've been hurt, it counts.
"There's nothing different for me," Gilman added. "I'm just preparing like every game I have prepared for and put up the best effort that I can."
One thing's for sure though — Gilman can't wait to be back out there with the defense that's been flying high down the stretch of the season.
"I feel like everyone's level of excellence is high," Gilman said. "From the corners to the safeties, everyone is just stepping in and just raise the level. I just have to continue to raise it even higher and just keep it going."
He later added: "I think we have another level we can take it and just being a part of that in the future is exciting."

Elsewhere on the injury front, wide receiver Joshua Palmer (foot) did not participate in practice on Wednesday after leaving Sunday's game with an injury.
"Progressing," Harbaugh said about Palmer.
Ladd McConkey, who broke Chargers franchise rookie records in receptions and yards last week, also did not practice with a toe injury.
Running back Gus Edwards remained out of Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury, but the team did welcome back linebacker Denzel Perryman (groin) in a limited fashion after not practicing last week.
