Last month, as part of the Chargers and NFL's continuing work in support of High School character education and development programming, the team hosted its 1st Annual TAKE CHARGE Summit for 50 soon-to-be senior football players from high schools in the San Diego Unified and Sweetwater Union School Districts.
Held at Chargers Park, participants were led through discussions on everything from Social Media Awareness, to Nutrition and Wellness including a very special presentation on the importance of Leadership and Sportsmanship from Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco. Students then participated in a panel Q&A session with Chargers team captain Darrell Stuckey, inside linebacker Denzel Perryman and former Chargers wide receiver Eric Parker.
As part of the TAKE CHARGE program, each participant will go back to their team and create a service project designed to benefit their community. So be sure to keep an eye out for these young men in your area as they become the next class of community leaders in San Diego County!
The new program is aimed at inspiring high school seniors in the community.
