Chargers Select Pittsburgh Offensive Lineman Branson Taylor in Round 6 of 2025 NFL Draft

16x9

The Chargers selected Pittsburgh offensive lineman Branson Taylor in the sixth round (No. 199 overall pick) in the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday.

Taylor is listed at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds.

Here is what Dane Brugler of The Athletic wrote about Taylor:

Overall, Taylor has workable tools but needs to iron out the inefficiencies in his game, which would allow him to play with more focus as a finisher. Several teams believe his best pro position will be inside at guard.

The selection of the 23-year-old Taylor gives the Chargers more depth along the offensive line.

Taylor played 18 games at left tackle and three games at right tackle in college but could potentially move inside to guard at the NFL level. He said he worked at guard in practice but never appeared there in a game.

"Wherever they want to play me, I'll play it," Taylor said.

He later added: "Some teams wanted me as a guard, some teams wanted me as a tackle. I responded very well to both of those. I think I could play either one. I think I'm versatile."

He could provide tackle depth behind Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt, but could also factor into the interior group alongside Trey Pipkins III, Bradley Bozeman, Andre James, Jamaree Salyer and others.

Taylor played his entire college career at Pittsburgh. He was a team captain in 2024 but missed the second half of the season with an injury.

"I'm a competitor, so whoever's in front of me and or whoever's behind me, I'm going to push them to be the best they could be and I'm going to be the best I could be," Taylor said.
