The Chargers fell 8-6 after Sunday's home loss to Tampa Bay.

First Quarter
Justin Herbert, Derwin James, Bradley Bozeman, Rashawn Slater, Khalil Mack and Daiyan Henley were the Chargers captains. The Bolts won the toss and elected to defer. The Chargers defense took the field first and gave up an early touchdown to Tampa Bay, which drove 70 yards in seven plays. Down 7-0, the Bolts responded with a touchdown drive of their own. Ladd McConkey had a pair of catches before Stone Smartt drew a key defensive pass interference call that put the Bolts in the red zone. Herbert and McConkey then connected for a 7-yard touchdown pass to even the score.
The Buccaneers put together another lengthy drive and were inside the Bolts 10-yard line when the first quarter came to a close.
Second Quarter
The Bucs took a 10-7 lead on a field goal early in the quarter after the Chargers red-zone defense have up big inside the 10-yard line. The Chargers then drove inside the red zone but a sack and a penalty halted the drive and forced the Bolts to kick a field goal of their own. Cam Dicker's 41-yard try was good to knot the score at 10. The Chargers got the ball back on the ensuing play when Tarheeb Still picked off Baker Mayfield on the first play of Tampa Bay's next drive.
The Chargers capitalized on the turnover as Quentin Johnston gave the Bolts their first lead of the game on a 13-yard touchdown catch. The former first-round pick shook off a tackler and powered his way in for a 13-yard touchdown as the Bolts went ahead 17-10 midway through the second quarter.
The Bolts kept the good vibes rolling in the second quarter when Joey Bosa forced a third-down fumble that was recovered by Elijah Molden.
The Bolts couldn't take advantage of the turnover as they punted it away late in the second quarter. Tampa Bay drove down and added another field goal as the Chargers took a 17-13 lead into the half.
Third Quarter
The Chargers received the second-half kickoff but went three-and-out to open the half. Tampa Bay took the lead on a 57-yard touchdown pass as the Bolts went down 20-17. The Chargers offense stalled out again as they punted after just four plays. The Bucs kicked another field goal for a 23-17 lead as the Bolts offense managed to get another stop in the red zone. Herbert then threw an interception as his streak of 357 passes without a pick came to an end. Tampa Bay took advantage as it hit on a 35-yard touchdown pass on third down. The Chargers trailed 30-17 at the end of the third quarter.
Fourth Quarter
The Chargers couldn't muster any points early in the quarter as Herbert and McConkey couldn't connect on third and fourth-down passes. The Bucs added to their lead with another touchdown as the Bolts trailed 37-17 midway through the fourth quarter. The Chargers turned the ball over on downs on their next possession. The Chargers lost 40-17 and host Denver at home on Thursday.
