Introducing Christian Lewis, our LUX Sales Manager!
Tell us a little bit about what you do at the Chargers.
I am currently a LUX Sales Manager selling all suite products for the LA Chargers with a strong focus on annual leases. I spend most of my time prospecting new clients and holding client appointments to add a variety of companies and high net worth individuals into our LUX program.
How did you get started?
My career as a Sports Executive started in Inside Sales for the LA Clippers in 2006. After a decade with the team and holding a few different positions within the organization, I took a Premium Sales role with Legends selling premium club seats and suites for the LA Rams on the 'LA Sports and Entertainment District' project, which would become SoFi Stadium. As a top performer, I had the privilege of being the only Sales Manager to sell both the Rams and the Chargers on that project. I was then promoted to the LUX sales team with the Chargers and shifted my focus to annual leases.
Dead or alive, which important figures in Black History would you want to have dinner with?
Jackie Robinson. Having played baseball at UCLA at Jackie Robinson Stadium, I have learned firsthand the tremendous impact he had on not only sports, but this country.
Tell us about a person who has inspired you and/or impacted your career today.
There is not just one person. My family has always supported me, but I do enjoy networking and learning from other NFL league executives. Gaining mentors has transformed my thought process and how I do business. I would encourage anyone who wants to work in sports to have a mentor that can guide them in their career pursuits.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Working in the NFL is a privilege. The NFL is KING and the top revenue-producing league in the world for a reason. I enjoy being part of the daily commitment to win the Super Bowl for the LA Chargers and value being part of an organization that is committed to building a championship team for Los Angeles.
Any advice for those trying to get a job in sports?
Get your education first and never stop growing your knowledge. I have an undergrad degree from UCLA and an MBA from UC Davis. Even with two degrees, I still routinely take short online courses through LinkedIn and Harvard Business School. Once you have a firm educational background, get in the game. Sports executives move around constantly, doesn't matter where you start, just start. Your dream job or team will always be there.
