The Los Angeles Chargers will don their royal blue Color Rush uniform on Sunday, December 3 against the Cleveland Browns at StubHub Center. The royal blue uniform represents one of the most successful periods in franchise history: The "Air Coryell" era.
"Air Coryell" featured one of the most explosive and exciting offenses to ever set foot on an NFL field. Head Coach Don Coryell's passing game, led by Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts, transformed the Chargers' offensive attack and revolutionized scoring in the NFL. This game-changing offense helped catapult the Chargers to three consecutive AFC West Division titles (1979-81) and two AFC Championship games (1980-81).
To complement the royal blue jerseys, pants, socks and shoes, the players will also wear helmets with gold facemasks that were unique to that era.
The Chargers will be breaking out the Royal Blue jerseys when they take on the Cleveland Browns at home this Sunday.
