Going into Week 14 of the regular season (and the first week of playoffs for many fantasy football leagues), the Chargers are ranked fourth in the NFL in total points, averaging over 27 per game. Here is what notable fantasy experts are saying as the Bolts get ready to visit the Panthers on Sunday:
Melvin Gordon: Gordon has solidified his place among the top running backs in the NFL this year and has been on fire as of late, racking up over 100 yards from scrimmage in five of the last six games. ESPN.com's fantasy experts rank Gordon as the number four running back this week and it is difficult to find anyone who does not have him ranked as a top-ten RB this week. Gordon is on average going for $7,800 in daily fantasy leagues.
Philip Rivers:This will be Rivers' first game in North Carolina since he was in college and many experts envision him having a warm homecoming. Rivers is averaging 279 passing yards per game this year while the Panthers have allowed 277 per game through the air. Both CBS.com and SI.com list him as a starter this week and Michael Beller of SI.com has this to say, "This is another game with a high over/under at 49.5, exactly the sort of context in which Rivers typically thrives. With Tyrell Williams a week healthier and Dontrelle Inman emerging as a legitimate weapon, Rivers should take advantage." He is on average going for $7,300 in daily fantasy leagues.
Antonio Gates: Gates has been knocking at the door of history for a few games now as he is Gates is two away from tying Tony Gonzalez for most touchdowns by a tight end. Michael Fabiano of NFL.com likes Gates' matchup this weekend, listing him as a starter saying "If you don't have an elite tight end, I'd start Gates against a Carolina team that has allowed nine scores and the most points to the position (11.4 PPG) in 2016." Gates is on average going for $4,500 in daily fantasy leagues.
Tyrell Williams: Like Gates, Williams is knocking on the door of history but in a different way as he is closing in on some single season milestones. Not only is Williams well on his way to 1,000 yards for the season, he is also trying to become the first Charger since the 1980 season to have a touchdown catch in five straight games. ESPN.com has ranked Williams as the number 14 wide-receiver this week and Yahoo.com has this to say about his matchup "Tyrell should be productive again Sunday against a Panthers defense allowing 276.8 passing yards a game, 30th in the league." Williams is on average going for $6,450 in daily fantasy leagues.
Dontrelle Inman:Over the past two weeks, only three other receivers had had more fantasy points than Inman and fantasy owners have noticed as he has been the second most added WR in ESPN leagues. Inman is listed as a "sleeper" by NFL.com's Michael Fabiano and FantsayPros.com has this to say about him, "Heading into a plus matchup facing a Panthers defense ranked fifth in fantasy production allowed to opposing WRs, Inman is in the flex conversation for Sunday's contest. Start him in Week 14." Inman is on average going for $5,600 in daily fantasy leagues.
