The Bolts preseason finale is here as the Bolts head to Dallas to take on the Cowboys.
Kick off is at 1 p.m. (PT) from AT&T Stadium. The over/under for Saturday's game is 33.5 points.
The Chargers must then pare their roster down to 53 players by 1 p.m. (PT) on Tuesday.
"It's a big week for a lot of people," Chargers Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman said. "For all of us, really."
Here are five Chargers to watch on Saturday:
Junior Colson
Colson missed the first few weeks of training camp after recovering from an appendectomy.
Once he got on the field last week, however, it was clear why the Bolts made the linebacker a third-round pick.
Colson flashed in multiple practices, including a perfect read of a screen pass where he displayed his speed and athleticism.
Colson, however, has yet to play in the preseason so there's a chance that Saturday might be a good time for him to get some game action before the regular season starts.
As it stands now, Denzel Perryman and Daiyan Henley are the likely starters at linebacker. But Colson is a major piece of the team going forward, whether it's on special teams this season or as a defensive starter in years to come.
Jaret Patterson
How many running backs will the Bolts keep on their initial 53-man roster?
Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins will be on the team for sure, while the final spot or two could come down to the group of Isaiah Spiller, Kimani Vidal and Jaret Patterson.
Vidal was among the standouts in Week 2 of the preseason with 49 rushing yards on 11 carries.
Patterson, meanwhile, has been involved with the first-team offense for parts of camp and is an all-around back who could find himself on the roster with a strong final push.
"He's battling to make this team," Roman said of Patterson. "He's 100 miles an hour at all times
"This means a lot to him and it shows in everything he does. Every meeting, every practice, at all times," Roman added. "He's really afforded himself well and we have a ton of respect for him."
Simi Fehoko
It's a numbers game at receiver, too.
The Chargers top handful of spots appear to be claimed with the likes of Joshua Palmer, Ladd McConkey, DJ Chark, Quentin Johnston and Derius Davis.
That could mean Simi Fehoko and Brenden Rice are battling for a spot. Or it could mean the Bolts keep both on the initial roster.
Either way, Fehoko has impressed on both offense and special teams in practices and a pair of preseason games.
"Competitors are welcome. And he showed up again today," Harbaugh said Monday of Fehoko. "He showed up big in the game.
"I think he's redefining himself and his game. Really more physical. He's doing the things that competitors do to contribute to the team," Harbaugh added. "I feel like he really belongs. Now he's starting to separate himself too, which is great. You see that continuing, you predict that will continue. Good things from Simi."
Fehoko leads all Chargers receivers with 85 receiving yards in preseason play.
JT Woods
Woods was drafted as a safety two years ago but has shifted to cornerback of late.
He first made the move in practice last week and then played 21 of 28 defensive snaps against the Rams at either outside or slot cornerback.
"He's tall, he's long, he's athletic, he's fast, he's got makeup speed," Harbaugh said. "If there's versatility there if he could play cornerback and safety, then that's a good thing."
Chargers Defensive Coordinator Jesse Minter spoke last week about how versatility in the secondary could help a player increase his value and earn a roster spot.
We'll know by the middle of next week if that is indeed the case for Woods.
"We're going to see, right?" Harbaugh said. "But given he's long, athletic, fast, a guy with coverage skills, why would you not try that?"
Derius Davis
As mentioned above, Davis' spot on the roster seems secure because of his dynamic return ability.
Remember, he led the league with a 16.0 punt return average as a rookie last year.
We have him listed here because of the new kickoff rule, however, as Davis has yet to return a kickoff in a preseason game with the altered format.
Davis has gotten plenty of reps in practice, but players and coaches said seeing the play in live-game action is a different animal.
Here's hoping Davis can get a chance to return at least one kickoff Saturday against the Cowboys.
