Who is Hassan Haskins? 5 Things to Know About Primetime Standout

Haskins 5T

Hassan Haskins proved to be a difference maker on Thursday Night Football.

The third-year running back sealed the Chargers 34-27 comeback win over the Broncos with under three minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

With the Bolts up three points, Haskins hauled in a shovel pass from Justin Herbert, put his foot in the ground and juked his way up field for a 34-yard touchdown.

Haskins now has two total touchdowns, one through the ground and through the air, and has played a crucial role on special teams, where he is third on the team with 240 snaps.

Here are five things to know about Haskins:

1. Claimed off waivers

The Bolts had some movement in the post-cut down waivers prior to the regular season.

With teams submitting their initial 53-man rosters in late August, players with fewer than four years of service in the league were subject to waivers.

The Chargers held the fifth spot in the waiver claim order to add Haskins, who was waived by the Titans.

2. Another Wolverine in LA

The list of former Michigan players on the Bolts grew with the addition of Haskins.

The running back reunited with Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh in Los Angeles after spending his collegiate career alongside him with the Wolverines.

Haskins played under Harbaugh from 2018 to 2021 and tallied 2,324 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns.

3. Second-team All-American

Haskins' senior year at Michigan with Harbaugh was his best as he was a major piece of their offense.

He started 14 games and led the team with 270 carries for 1,327 yards and then program season-record 20 touchdowns.

His big year in 2021 earned him a Second-Team All-American selection by the American Football Coaches Association and a consensus First-Team All-Big Ten selection.

4. Former 4th-round pick

Haskins joined the Titans after being selected in the fourth round (No. 131 overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft.

He was the 11th running back selected in that year's edition and played in 15 games (one start) during his rookie season. The running back had a total of 150 yards from scrimmage and had 11 receptions in Tennessee.

Haskins' main contribution in the NFL prior to joining the Bolts was on special teams, where he played 234 snaps (third highest on the team) on the Titans. He also served as their kickoff returner and had 19 returns as a rookie.

5. Working his way up

Before Haskins would become a contributor on the Wolverines, he was a lightly recruited prospect from the state of Missouri.

He was a three-star prospect that was ranked as the nation's 95th-best running back in the country by some outlets out of Eureka Senior High School.
