Military Hero: Staff Sergeant Stephen G. Dunham

Staff Sergeant Stephen G. Dunham was born in Stockton, California. He joined the Army on September 02, 2009 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA. Upon completion of his One Station Unit Training he obtained the primary MOS of 11B, making him an Infantryman. He was assigned to Able Company 1st Battalion 506th Infantry Regiment "Red Currahee" where he deployed and received an Army Commendation medal with Valor for his actions in Afghanistan as a Private and got battlefield promoted from Private First Class to the rank of Specialist and later receiving the rank of Sergeant because of his leadership abilities.

Staff Sergeant Dunham's assignments include: One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA, Fort Campbell, KY, Camp Casey, South Korea, JBLM, WA, and Los Angeles Recruiting Battalion. Staff Sergeant Dunham has held positions as the Combative's Instructor for the battalion, Squad Leader, Primary Unit Prevention Leader, Section Sergeant, Marksmanship instructor for unit and was selected for recruiting at the Coastal Company, Los Angeles Recruiting Battalion.

Staff Sergeant Dunham has attended numerous military schools and training programs to include Warriors leaders' course, Combative's LVL 1-3, Advance Leadership Course, Air Assault, Advanced Marksmanship Instructor Course, Unit Prevention Leaders Course, Vehicle Crew Evaluation Course and Army Recruiting Course (ARC) Staff Sergeant Dunham working towards his Associates degree in General Education, currently attending American Military University.

His military awards and decorations include: 2 Army Commendation Medal, 1 Army Commendation medal w/ (V) device, Army Achievement Medal (1 SLV 2 BRZ OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2), Korean Defense Service Medal,  Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 2), Certificate of Achievement (4), NATO Medal, Recruiter Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Combat Infantryman's Badge and Air Assault.
