Chargers 2025 Mock Draft Tracker 8.0: Who to Pick at No. 22?

Mock Tracker

We're under one month until the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Bolts hold the 22nd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and currently have 10 selections. The draft will be held in Green Bay from April 24-26.

Take a look at who draft analysts have the Bolts selecting at No. 22 overall.

The opinions, analysis and/or speculation expressed below represent those of individual authors and do not represent the opinions or policies of the Chargers' organization, front office staff, coaches and executives.

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports – TE Colston Loveland, Michigan

Jim Harbaugh needs a tight end. Jim Harbaugh coached Loveland at Michigan. It works. Loveland would be a great middle-of-the-field weapon for Justin Herbert.

Daniel Flick, Sports Illustrated – TE Colston Loveland, Michigan

There's a chance Loveland is off the board long before the Chargers are on the clock, but head coach Jim Harbaugh would sprint the card to the podium himself if needed. Harbaugh coached Loveland from 2022 to '23 at Michigan, and Loveland has the size, speed and receiving pedigree to be an impactful target for quarterback Justin Herbert.

Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz, USA Today – TE Colston Loveland, Michigan

With Najee Harris and Mekhi Becton joining Jim Harbaugh's crew, the Bolts appear to be only leaning further into the established identity of the Greg Roman offense. But reuniting with another former Wolverine in Loveland would open things a bit more for Justin Herbert.

Ben Standig, The Athletic – CB Will Johnson, Michigan

PROJECTED TRADE: Chargers trade with the Bengals for No. 17 overall

Jim Harbaugh trading up for a different Michigan man (Loveland) would be the ideal use of the Chargers' draft capital (10 selections). The pivot turns to cornerback — and jumping the Buccaneers at No. 19 — after losing Kristian Fulton in free agency, and Asante Samuel Jr. remains unsigned. Johnson's impressive 6-2 size, playmaking and familiarity with the Chargers' coaching staff make for a smooth transition.

Josh Liskiewitz, Pro Football Focus – CB Will Johnson, Michigan

Johnson is a long, lean cornerback with elite foot quickness and change-of-direction fluidity. His limited long speed will create questions about his man coverage reliability in the NFL, but having him play off coverage with his eyes on the ball as a zone-scheme wide cornerback could allow him to make impactful plays more often.

Nate Tice & Charles McDonald, Yahoo Sports – EDGE Mike Green, Marshall

Last updated: March 24, 2025

With Joey Bosa gone and Khalil Mack on a one-year deal, the Chargers could use a boost and infusion of youth to their edge rush. Enter Green, who falls a bit here despite leading the NCAA in sacks last season.

Chris Trapasso, CBS Sports – TE Colston Loveland, Michigan

Let's not overthink this. The Chargers need a viable tight end weapon, and no one knows Loveland better than Jim Harbaugh.

Chad Reuter, NFL.com – EDGE Donovan Ezeiruaku, Boston College

Last updated: March 21, 2025

Re-signing Khalil Mack ... was a coup. Releasing Joey Bosa, however, makes it necessary for the team to add another young talent to rotate with Bud Dupree and Tuli Tuipulotu. Ezeiruaku possesses only adequate size for an edge (6-2 1/2, 248 pounds), but his 34-inch arms, short-area quickness (6.94 three-cone drill) and varied pass-rush moves make him an effective QB hunter.

Second round (No. 55): RB Quinshon Judkins, Ohio State

Third round (No. 86): DT Aeneas Peebles, Virginia Tech

Fourth round (No. 125): WR Jaylin Lane, Virginia Tech

The Athletic NFL Staff, The Athletic – RB Omarion Hampton, North Carolina

Last updated: March 20, 2025

The Chargers signed former Steelers running back Najee Harris to a one-year deal last week. Hampton would round out a vastly improved top duo for the Chargers, who struggled to find consistency in the run game in offensive coordinator Greg Roman's first season calling plays.

Mike Band, NFL.com – TE Colston Loveland, Michigan

Last updated: March 20, 2025

After a season of piecing together the tight end position with low-cost veterans, head coach Jim Harbaugh looks to the future by reuniting with Loveland, a player he recruited to Michigan. Loveland's length, hands and catch radius make him an ideal security blanket for Justin Herbert, while his plus athleticism creates mismatches against linebackers and safeties. Given the Chargers' need for a stable, long-term presence in the middle of the field, Loveland's upside is hard to ignore.

Rob Rang, Fox Sports – EDGE Donovan Ezeiruaku, Boston College

Last updated: March 21, 2025

There is no denying that if the Chargers are going to take the next step on defense, they need more juice (and production) off the edge. Ezeiruaku offers both, turning heads at the Combine with his burst and bend and registering an ACC-leading 16.5 sacks and 21 tackles for loss last year.

Marcus Mosher, The 33rd Team – TE Colston Loveland, Michigan

Last updated: March 20, 2025

There might not be a better fit in the draft than Colston Loveland re-joining Jim Harbaugh in Los Angeles. The Chargers need a dynamic tight end, and Loveland is one of the best route-running tight ends we've seen enter the league some time.

He's not a powerful blocker and will need to be hidden some there, but he would instantly be the second-most reliable target in the passing game and would prove to be a huge weapon for Justin Herbert.

Daniel Harms, The Draft Network – TE Colston Loveland, Michigan

Last updated: March 23, 2025

A former Wolverine is reuniting with Jim Harbaugh in a position of need. The story just writes itself, and this is a great fit for Colston Loveland with Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense, where he can continue to grow as a blocker. His route-running, along with his yards after the catch ability, will be a welcomed sight.
