The Bolts are 2-2 as they now have a bye.
Here are three key Chargers stats ahead of Week 5:
1. Defense is surging
Through four games, it's clear the Bolts have a good defense.
Case in point: the Chargers defense is third overall (minus-0.198) and is fourth overall in opposing success rate allowed (37.7 percent).
The Bolts are also third in defensive DVOA (-16.3 percent) and are fifth overall in PFF's team defense grade (73.4).
"We've played really good but I think we can play better," Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday.
2. Ladd keeps leading
Ladd McConkey had a career-best 67 receiving yards Sunday while tying a career best with five receptions.
He also hauled in a 7-yard touchdown pass from Justin Herbert that made the highlight reel as McConkey secured the catch while falling down.
According to NFL Next Gen Stats, the completion had only a 20-percent probability, making it the fourth least likely reception in Week 4 and the 13th least likely catch of the entire season to date.
McConkey receiving EPA of plus-3.7 led all Chargers players as he also had a 37-yard catch and run early in the third quarter.
According to NFL Next Gen Stats, the 2024 second-round pick was only expected to gain 10 yards after the catch (YAC) on the play. Instead, he gained 31 yards after the catch, which was good for a plus-20 YAC that registered as the sixth-best mark in the NFL in Week 4.
3. Still's 1st start
Chargers rookie cornerback Tarheeb Still made his first start on Sunday.
The 2024 fifth-round pick lined up in the slot with Ja'Sir Taylor out with a fibula injury.
Still did well, recording an overall PFF grade of 63.7, good for the seventh-best mark on the Bolts defense in Week 4.
He also shared a sack with Troy Dye as Still got to Patrick Mahomes on a blitz off the edge. Still earned a 79.5 PFF pass-rush grade Sunday, the highest mark on the team.
