The final week of Chargers Training Camp is underway after the Bolts held a 90-minute session in full pads Monday afternoon.
The Chargers will practice the next three days before Saturday's preseason finale on the road at the 49ers.
Here is the Chargers Camp Report from Monday's practice:
1. Hampton shines in backfield
Omarion Hampton just keeps getting better and better.
The Chargers held their 21st practice of Camp Monday, and it might have been the best the Chargers rookie first-round pick has looked all summer.
Granted, even with the Chargers in full pads, there was no live tackling as the running back isn't about to get walloped by his own teammates.
But all the traits that made Hampton a standout at North Carolina — his speed, athleticism and power — were on display Monday.
The Chargers opened Monday's practice with a 9-on-7 period that focused exclusively on run plays.
Hampton opened the drill were a burst up the middle that likely would have gained a first down and then followed it up with a run to the left for another 10-plus yard run.
The Bolts later focused on run plays in a full-team drill as Hampton had back-to-back run plays to the left that would have been chunk plays.
Of note: Joe Alt led the way for Hampton on both plays as he continues his own strong camp, albeit now at left tackle instead of right tackle.
Overall, just a strong day from Hampton, who has stepped into the lead back role with Najee Harris still on the Non-Football Injury List with an eye injury.
Ladd McConkey also had a solid day with six catches in either 7-on-7 or team drills as he showed off his rapport with Justin Herbert.
McConkey nearly had a stellar day but couldn't haul in a pass in the end zone from Herbert, but the Chargers second-year wide receiver still shined as he worked both the middle of the field and the sideline.
Herbert did throw a touchdown in a team red-zone drill when he found Will Dissly on a screen pass before he was escorted to the end zone but his offensive line.
2. Jackson has solid day
Defensively, veteran cornerback Donte Jackson put together a good day in the secondary.
Jackson made his presence felt early on with a pass breakup on Trey Lance in a 7-on-7 drill and later had a another PBU when he was unable to hang onto an interception.
Jackson's football IQ was on display later in the session when he notched a tackle for loss on a screen pass.
Tarheeb Still tallied an interception Monday on a deep (lightly contested) jump ball before Marlowe Wax snagged an interception of his own later in practice.
Wax corralled a pass that hit off the hands of Hassan Haskins and popped into the air.
3. Phillips off PUP list
Del'Shawn Phillips made his training camp debut Monday afternoon.
The Chargers linebacker, who had been on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List since the start of camp, worked back into individual drills before heading off to the side with trainer for the rest of practice.
Phillips' return to the field comes eight days before roster cutdown day. All NFL teams must reduce their rosters to 53 players by 1 p.m. (PT) on August 26.
Phillips, who signed with the Chargers this offseason, has been a standout special teams player over the past five seasons.
"This guy, he's played a lot of football," Chargers Special Teams Coordinator Ryan Ficken said after practice. "Excited that he's here. he can be a game changer in a lot of ways, but first and foremost, he's just got to get health and make sure he's ready to go.
"This was the first step today in terms of showing that he can go out there and practice," Ficken added. "He's a Swiss Army knife ... so athletic and heavy-handed and very intelligent. Just excited to see him out there."
