WHO IMPRESSED:
Ricky Henne's Take:The wide receivers won the day in my opinion. That's exactly what I had hoped for 24 hours after the cornerbacks got the better of them to open camp. It was awesome seeing Keenan Allen doing Keenan Allen things, but what really caught my eye was how the Bolts aired it out. Philip Rivers' deep ball was on fire, most notably on a pair of bombs to Tyrell Williams and Travis Benjamin.
Hayley Elwood's Take:A lot has been said about Michael Davis ever since he showed up for rookie mini camp, but one play he made during Monday's practice was a sure showstopper. Melvin Gordon took a handoff and appeared he had enough green grass ahead of him to run in for a would-be touchdown. However, Davis was hot on Gordon's tail and refused to relent. As the running back inched closer to the end zone, Davis caught up forced a fumble. After the play, the crowd erupted. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does when the pads come on tomorrow.
ODDS AND ENDS:
Tre Boston saw the majority of reps at starting free safety.
Special teams was once again dedicated to working on the punting game. Both Drew Kaser and Toby Baker unleashed a number of bombs.
Training Camp is open to the public again on Tuesday at Jack Hammett Sports Complex. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. The third day of camp is one you surely don't want to miss as it marks the first padded practice of 2017.
