We continue the series with a scouting report of Stanford TE Austin Hooper.
Name: Austin Hooper
School: Stanford
Height: 6-4
Weight: 254 pounds
Position: TE
NFL Network Pro Comparison: Coby Fleener
Stanford is called "Tight End U" for a reason, and Austin Hooper figures to be its next graduate following in the footsteps of Zach Ertz, Levine Tiololo, Coby Fleener and Jim Dray.
Hooper declared for the draft following a standout sophomore campaign in which he was a Mackey Award Finalist, first team All-Pac-12 pick and third team All-American selection. He caught 34 passes in 2015 for 438 yards and six touchdowns, finishing his two-year career at Stanford with 74 catches for 937 yards and eight touchdowns.
At 6-4, 254-pounds, Hooper boasts ideal size for the position. A capable blocker, he possesses soft hands that make him a weapon in the passing game. Athletic enough to break free from would be tacklers, he is also strong enough to carry them on his back for extra yardage.
Perhaps most important, many pundits believe Hooper is only scratching the surface of his potential. When it all comes together, they believe he will be a complete tight end with a long career in the NFL.
