*In order to familiarize fans with some of the top names in the 2016 NFL Draft, Chargers.com will be highlighting a different prospect each weekday leading up to the first day of the draft on April 28th. *
We continue the series with a scouting report of Alabama DT Jarran Reed.
Name: Jarran Reed
School: Alabama
Height: 6-3
Weight: 307 pounds
Position: DT
NFL Network Pro Comparison: Eddie Goldman
In a draft deep stacked with the defensive line prospects, Jarran Reed distinguishes himself as not only one of the top run stuffing defensive tackles available in 2015, but also in recent memory.
Virtually immovable as a 6-3, 307-pound anchor in the middle, Reed eats up blockers at the point of attack, freeing up teammates to make impact plays. In addition to being a rock up front, he possesses quick hands and natural instincts as he punishes running backs that enter his vicinity.
Transferring to Alabama from East Mississippi Community College in 2014, he hit his stride last season for the Crimson Tide. He was named a second-team All-SEC selection after tallying 56 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and one sack.
Some pundits would like to see him develop more pass rush tools as Alabama tended to sub him out in obvious passing situations. Overall, teams looking for a stout run stuffer at the point of attack will most likely covet Reed in the first round
