Former Jets and Bills head coach Rex Ryan will provide color commentary tonight on ESPN when the Los Angeles Chargers kick off their 2017 campaign against the Denver Broncos.
So, what might it take for the Bolts to leave Mile High with the win?
Ryan provided his path to a Chargers victory:
"First off, the Chargers have to be able to run the ball efficiently where you can keep running it (over and over). You've got to obviously limit the turnovers, and you have to protect Philip Rivers. If you can protect Philip, he can obviously throw the ball effectively. So (those three) are the most important for the offense.
Now on defense, you've got to be as good as advertised. Those two pass rushers – (Melvin) Ingram and Joey (Bosa) – they have to get after the quarterback. Corey Liuget, too. You have to force Trevor Siemian into mistakes. Last year, one thing about the Chargers defense was they had 18 interceptions. So you have to force Siemian into making mistakes. If that happens, I think things will go well for the Chargers."
