Former NFL MVP Rich Gannon will be on the call Sunday when the Bolts visit the Chiefs, providing analysis alongside Kevin Harlan.
The longtime QB offered his keys to the game, including what he sees as a path to a Chargers victory:
"I think San Diego without question has to get off to a fast start. The crowd noise is always an issue in Arrowhead. Offensively, you have a great running back in Melvin Gordon and an offensive line you feel better about, so you have to be able to crank up the running game. I think that's really important against a team that also wants to run it.
*Then defensively, if you are a San Diego Charger strapping on that helmet, you better make sure the chinstrap is buckled. Kansas City is a team that wants to go downfield and wants to run the football. So run defense is going to be key. If you can stop the run and force Alex Smith to get into some longer distances on third down where he has to throw the football, (then) I like their chances. *
But look, this is AFC West football. This is Chargers at Chiefs. Opening weekend doesn't get any better than this."
