The San Diego Chargers returned to action on Monday after a day off. Here are three players who stood out at Chargers Park.
1. ILB Manti Te'o:The inside linebacker was all around the ball, making a number of highlight reel plays during the afternoon session. He snuffed out a quick toss to Danny Woodhead early during 11-on-11 action, dropping the running back for a loss. Te'o later had two more big plays in succession, gobbling up Woodhead in the background before dropping into coverage on Antonio Gates and breaking up a pass intended for number 85.
2. WR Tyrell Williams:The first two reps of practice against cornerbacks did not go Williams' way. He was boxed out in the corner of the end zone by Brandon Flowers and couldn't come up with the catch on his first play. On his next snap, he couldn't shake Casey Hayward, who batted down the pass. From that moment on, Williams had a day to remember. He went up against Hayward again, and beat the cornerback at the line of scrimmage with a quick release for an easy touchdown. Later in the day near the goal line, he caught two consecutive touchdown passes. His first was on a back corner fade while the second came as he shook free from coverage to haul in the pass form Philip Rivers.
3. WR Keenan Allen –KA13 didn't see much action the last time the Chargers hit the field as Mike McCoy explained he got stepped on during the previous practice. While the wideout was fine, the head coach wanted to see other players step up at FanFest. Allen was back at it again on Monday, and came through with another strong performance. He caught the first pass thrown his way for a TD during one-on-ones, and later made numerous receptions as it was clear he hadn't missed a beat.
