The end of the regular season means various media outlets put out their season wrap-up teams and earlier this week, Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) announced teams that included Chargers Keenan Allen, Joey Bosa and Drue Tranquill.
2019 PFWA ALL-AFC TEAM
Allen and Bosa, both Pro Bowlers in 2019, were named to PFWA’s All-AFC Team at their respective positions.
In 2019, Allen had his third 100-catch campaign and broke his own single-season franchise record in receptions (102 in 2017.) He finished the season with 104 receptions for 1,199 yards and six touchdowns. With Mike Williams eclipsing the 1,000 receiving yards mark, he and Allen became the first Chargers duo to each reach 1,000 receiving yards since 2009.
Bosa finished 2019 with 11.5 sacks and became the eighth player in franchise history to reach 40 career sacks. Additionally, he notched 67 total tackles and set single-season career bests in quarterback hits (31) and tackles for loss (18).
2019 PFWA ALL-ROOKIE TEAM
The fourth-round linebacker out of Notre Dame made his mark on special teams for the Bolts in 2019, appearing on PFWA’s All-Rookie team and Pro Football Focus’ of the same ilk as well. He tied for ninth in the league in special teams tackles (11) and blocked two punts during the 2019 campaign.
Tranquill's inclusion on PFWA's team marks the fifth consecutive time a Chargers rookie has made the list. He joins Josh Lambo (2015), Joey Bosa (2016), Hunter Henry (2016) and Jatavis Brown (2016), Dan Feeney (2017), and Derwin James (2018) as previous Chargers to make PFWA's All-Rookie Teams.
