After serving four seasons as an assistant strength coach for the Chargers, Jonathan Brooks enters his fourth season as the team's head strength and conditioning coach in 2024.
Brooks' support to the sports performance staff contributed toward the organization's efforts of optimizing player advancement, development and recovery. With the support of Broos and the sports performance staff, the Chargers posted a winning record in four of his seven years with the team and, in 2022, the Bolts made their first playoff appearance since the 2018 season.
Prior to joining the Chargers, Brooks was previously a Performance Manager at EXOS in Frisco, Texas. EXOS is a training organization that specializes in sports performance for professional and amateur athletes. During his leadership role, he led a performance team that consisted of strength coaches, physical therapists, dieticians and consultants.
Working alongside the physical therapists, Brooks prepared injured athletes to return to competition through unique and tailored training regimens. He tested and administered body compositions, movement screens, strength/power index and sport relevant testing.
A former wide receiver at the University of New Mexico, Brooks lettered each year of his Lobos career. He earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from UNM, graduating in 2009.
Brooks is an NSCA — Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist — CSCS, and also earned the following certifications throughout his professional career: FMS, XPS, ALTIS, PRI, FRC.
He and his wife, Kylie, have two sons named Braxton and Landon.
