In May 2016, the Chargers promoted Patrick Ryan from scouting assistant to area scout. The 2023 season will be his sixth year scouting the Midwest after two years in the Northeast.
Ryan joined the Chargers in 2013 after starting his career as a scouting assistant with the Cleveland Browns in 2012.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Ryan attended St. Ignatius High before enrolling at Georgetown University where he graduated with a degree in government with a minor in theology. Ryan played football for the Hoyas, starting at wide receiver as a junior and senior. In 2011, he was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Ryan's brother, John, played at Notre Dame from 2007-10 and his brother, Michael, played at Dayton from 2012-15. Their cousin, Jake Ryan, was a fourth-round selection of the Green Bay Packers in 2015.
