As we celebrate Latino Heritage Month, we are excited to shine a spotlight on our staff members who proudly embrace their rich Latino heritage.
Get to know Cheyanne Warren-Diaz, our Manager of Community Relations!
Tell us a little bit about what you do for the Chargers.
I work in the Community Relations department and oversee our Chargers Pup program, our work with local shelters and rescues for our animal welfare pillar, donation platform, and NFL initiatives such as our year-long crucial catch programing and NFL Votes campaign.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
There are so many rewarding moments and parts of my job. Nothing is better than introducing a child or lifelong fan to one of their favorite players and seeing them light up. We do so much important work and it is a joy every time to connect our players to the communities we live in and serve as well as using our platform to help expand the reach for organizations who do extraordinary work for the community.
What aspects of Latino culture are most important to you, and why?
From an early age, I learned the importance of family and spending quality time with the people that matter most to me. Gathering and being together over holidays and celebrations are the happiest memories of my childhood and while maybe not unique to the Latino culture, being together was so strongly emphasized in our family that I will forever associate it with my culture.
Are there any Latino leaders or role models who have influenced your career or personal development
Selena Gomez is a role model and inspiration to me. She shares the same heritage as I do, but more than that, she has overcome obstacles her whole life and become one of the most successful businesswomen and leaders of our generation. She has inspired me for many years and especially recently as I have grown in my professional life, her strength and optimism have helped my personal and professional development.
