Ahead of a pivotal match with the Oakland Raiders, the Los Angeles Chargers announced on Friday that they've signed running back Russell Hansbrough to the active roster off the practice squad. To make room, the team waived offensive linemen Brett Boyko.
A 5-9, 195-pound running back out of Missouri, Hansbrough joined the Bolts' practice squad prior to the Week 15 match against the Kansas City Chiefs. He initially signed as an undrafted free agent in Tampa Bay after a standout collegiate career in which he carried the rock 467 times for 2,344 yards and 15 TDs, averaging 5.0 yards per carry. His top season came in 2014 as a junior when he set career bests in carries (205), yards (1,084) and touchdowns (10). Hansbrough appeared in two games for Tampa Bay in 2016. He's also spent time on the Bucs and Giants' practice squads over the past two seasons.
