The NFL world recently got an up close view of Jim Harbaugh's undeniable passion for football.
The Chargers Head Coach was mic'd up for Sunday's game against the Titans, which included his usual pregame routine of catching passes from Chargers quarterbacks.
But Harbaugh, donning his usual gloves and cleats, was off his game in Week 11 as a clip showed him dropping a warmup throw from Herbert.
Harbaugh was, uh, animated after the gaffe.
"Damnit!," Harbaugh yelled. "Damnit!
"Balls are coming out good. I suck today," Harbaugh added. "My bad. My bad."
Herbert on Wednesday was asked about Harbaugh's fiery reaction to the dropped pass.
"He makes it his goal to not drop a single pass in warmups," Herbert said. "We've been out there for nine games now and I think it's only happened a couple times where he hasn't dropped any.
"He's always seeking perfection," Herbert added. "He's definitely a perfectionist when it comes to catching passes."
And don't assume Herbert is easing up when his Head Coach is on the receiving end of pregame throws.
"I throw it to him like I would anyone else," Herbert said Wednesday with a smile. "We've got respect for him as a pass catcher and we understand that he's a professional. He gets the same passes as everyone else."
Through nine games, the Bolts sit at 6-3 and have surpassed their 2023 win total to firmly sit in the AFC playoff race.
Both Herbert and Harbaugh have played key roles in that turnaround, but the quarterback said Wednesday there's no doubt Harbaugh's love for the game has rubbed off on the entire organization.
"I still think it's awesome," Herbert said. "We go out there for warmups and you know he's going to be there and you have no doubt he's going to try and catch every single pass.
"It is kind of fun to go out there and understand your head coaching is catching passes from the quarterback," Herbert continued. "I think it means a lot to the quarterbacks. We go out there and have fun with him and know that this is everything to him.
"It's refreshing to see," Herbert added. "You don't see that a lot, especially in the NFL. To have a guy like that is really cool."
