The Chargers are headed to Houston for Saturday's Wild Card Round playoff game.
But the Los Angeles community is on the forefront of their minds as the city deals with multiple wildfires and devastating loss.
"Heart goes out, prayers, abundant prayers for all those that have been affected by this tragedy," Harbaugh said. "Also just been inspired greatly by the first responders, the firefighters and the residents that have pulled together, had each other's back.
"It's been tremendously inspiring," Harbaugh continued. "Abundant prayers and thoughts to all that are in this fight. You see neighbors on top of houses, helping fellow neighbors, it's truly inspiring."
He later added: "It's powerful, what we're witnessing. Fellow man, fellow citizens of Los Angeles, it is inspiring the way they've jumped in, the way they've pulled together, doing anything they can to protect their homes, their neighbors homes. Not just their own. It's powerful, It's resonating. I can speak for me, Sarah, my kids and my family, our thoughts and prayers are with all that are in this daily fight."
Harbaugh, who wore a Los Angeles Fire Department hat during his presser, said that some people associated with the Bolts have been affected by the fires.
Wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal has a home near the flames while Harbaugh's daughter, Grace, had to be evacuated from her Hollywood home Wednesday night.
"Sanj, he's been a stalwart, both his family and for the team. The organization has been tremendous, everybody here knows, we all know that if we need anything, if our families need anything, if we need anything while we're away on this trip, Bill Stetson and the group here, our organization has in place places for us to go or for our families to go if they need to be evacuated."
The Chargers altered their practice schedule Wednesday and Thursday to limit the time players were outside due to poor air quality.
Thursday's session, for example, had the defense and scout team offense on the field first followed by a special teams period. The offense and scout team defense then took the field.
"Went by reducing the amount of time," Harbaugh said. "All the recommendations from the experts, reduce the amount of time outside and reduce the intensity of the workout."
Harbaugh said players only got in about half of their usual on-field work the past two days but noted he feels his team is locked in ahead of Saturday's playoff matchup against the Texans.
"Our guys did a great job improvising, adjusting," Harbaugh said. "Really, we were able to get as close as we possibly could to what a normal practice would have been."
Kickoff from Houston is at 1:30 p.m. (PT) on Saturday.
"For all concerned about us, we're safe, we're on mission," Harbaugh said. "Our thoughts and prayers with those that are right there centrally in the fight."
He later added: "We're on a mission. Mission is to go 1-0 this weekend."
