Here are five things to know about the North Carolina running back:

1. Decorated Tar Heel

Hampton comes to Los Angeles after leaving a legacy at North Carolina.

The running back stamped his name in the school's record books in just three years, finishing fourth in school history with 3,565 rushing yards in 38 games.

He also ranked second with 19 100-yard rushing games and third with 36 rushing touchdowns, as he became one of nine Tar Heels with multiple seasons of 1,000 yards rushing as well.

2. Racking up accolades

There was no shortage of accolades for the running back in his short time at North Carolina.

Hampton was a Second-Team All-American in both 2023 and 2024, as he also finished as a finalist for the Doak Walker Award for the nation's top running back in each of those seasons after putting up at least 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns each of the last two seasons.

And after leading the ACC in rushing yards each of the last two seasons, he also earned First Team All-ACC honors.

3. Stellar 2024 season

Hampton finished his last season with the Tar Heels surpassing the 2,000 yards from scrimmage mark for the first and only time in his collegiate career.

The running back had 2,033 yards, third most in the nation, in just 12 games and averaged over 175 total yards per game during the 2024 season.

His 1,660 rushing yards were also good for third-most in the FBS, as he was tied for the sixth-best Pro Football Focus rush grade (90.5) among running backs with at least 200 carries.

4. Workhorse back

The running back was as secure as they come in college.

Throughout his three years at North Carolina, Hampton touched the ball 695 times and fumbled just six times, including just once in 2024.

He was reliable and a tough runner as well, as 2,505 of his career rushing yards came after contact according to PFF.

Hampton was tough to bring down and elusive, forcing 155 tackles throughout his time as a Tar Heel, 73 of them coming in 2024 (sixth-most among running backs).

5. North Carolina native

Before he was a star with the Tar Heels, Hampton was a star on the prep scene in the state of North Carolina.

Hampton was named the North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year during his senior season after 1,948 yards. He also broke his own school record with 39 rushing touchdowns that year.

Off the gridiron, Hampton was also a star in other sports at Cleveland High School, as he set several school weightlifting records and lettered in basketball and track.
