Sergeant William Sandoval proudly enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 2008 and attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego; CA. After attending recruit training he was sent to Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA. Upon completion, he received training at Personnel Administration School, at Camp Johnson, NC where he received the MOS 0121 Personnel Clerk and was promoted to Private First Class.
In December 2008, Sergeant Sandoval reported to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar, Head Quarters Battalion, Installation Personnel Administration Center (IPAC) in San Diego, California. In July 2010 he participated in a deployment with MWHS-3 to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). Shortly after his return he was promoted to Corporal on February 1, 2011.
In January 2013, he received orders to Marine Forces Reserve, New Orleans, Louisiana and was assigned to Head Quarters Battalion as an administration clerk at the IPAC. In May 2016 Sergeant Sandoval received orders to his current assignment H&S Company 2D Battalion 23D Marines, Pasadena California as the Battalion Legal and Awards Chief. Sergeant Sandoval's personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (gold star in lieu of second award) and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal.
The Military Hero of the Week presented by California Resources Corporation was created to acknowledge the heroic efforts and sacrifices made by our U.S. service members, veterans and their families. Each week of the Regular Season the Los Angeles Chargers will honor a Military Hero. The honored service member will receive four tickets to a Chargers home game where he or she will be recognized on-field.
