Chargers Continue in Top 10 of Week 14 Power Rankings

Power Rankings W14 Chiefs

The Chargers got back in the win column and moved to 8-4 on the season after their win in Atlanta.

The Bolts will now travel for the second-straight week, this time to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

NFL analysts and publications have released their weekly power rankings. Take a look at where the Bolts are ranked as they enter Week 14.

No. 8: Pete Prisco – CBS Sports (Last Week: No. 8)

Winning on the road at Atlanta was a nice way to bounce back after the Ravens loss. Now comes a tough one at Kansas City against the Chiefs.

No. 8: Vinnie Iyer – Sporting News (Last Week: No. 9)

The Chargers passed another big defensive test after having some breakdowns vs. the Ravens at home. They were ready to swarm the Falcons and made up for Justin Herbert cooling off big time in Atlanta.

No. 9: Diante Lee – The Ringer (Last Week: No. 7)

Los Angeles is 6-2 over its past eight games and heads into next Sunday's matchup with Kansas City as the perfect kind of team to upset the AFC's top seed. The Chargers had only 10 first downs and 24 minutes of possession in their win over the Falcons, but they protected the ball well enough to keep things close in the first half and out-executed the Falcons after stealing the lead on a 61-yard pick-six from cornerback Tarheeb Still. Winning the line of scrimmage and playing mistake-free football have positioned the Chargers well in the AFC playoff race, and I'm eager to see them try to trip up another contender.

No. 9: Conor Orr – Sports Illustrated (Last Week: No. 9)

Another complete and total game from the Chargers' secondary, which is not just the Derwin James show. The Power Rankings have been a huge fan of Tarheeb Still and he had another massive game against a rusty-looking Falcons offense.

No. 9: Eric Edholm – NFL.com (Last Week: No. 9)

The defense did its job, logging four interceptions of Kirk Cousins (including a pick-six by rookie Tarheeb Still) and stripping Cousins for what would have been a fifth turnover had the Falcons not recovered. The Bolts also held firm in the red zone, allowing Atlanta to score only one TD on four trips down there.

No. 9: NFL Nation, Kris Rhim – ESPN (Last Week: No. 9)

First-time Pro Bowl nominee: Wide receiver Ladd McConkey

McConkey has emerged as one of the NFL's best receivers this season and quarterback Justin Herbert's most trusted target. McConkey is 13th in the NFL in receiving yards (815) and has the second-most yards among rookies. He is the first Chargers rookie wideout since Keenan Allen to have three 100-plus-yard receiving games, including 117 of the Chargers' 150 receiving yards (78%) against the Falcons. That was the third-highest percentage of a team's receiving yards by a single player this season.

No. 9: BR NFL Staff – Bleacher Report (Last Week: No. 9)

That defense stepped up big-time in Week 13. The Chargers intercepted Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins four times, returning one for a score.

It might not have been the prettiest one, but head coach Jim Harbaugh said he sees a group where one unit picks up the slack when another falters. He sees a team...

We'll find out soon enough how good the Dobbins-less Chargers are—they head to Arrowhead to face the AFC West-leading Chiefs in Week 14.

No. 11: Mike Florio – Pro Football Talk (Last Week: No. 11)

Short week, long trip, opponent coming off a bye week, but the new-look Chargers still got it done.

No. 11: Josh Kendall – The Athletic (Last Week: No. 9)

No. 11: Frank Schwab – Yahoo Sports (Last Week: No. 11)

The Chargers didn't get much offense going vs. the Falcons, and that's concerning because it was their first game without J.K. Dobbins at running back. The positive was that Ladd McConkey had 117 receiving yards.

No. 12: Nate Davis – USA Today (Last Week: No. 13)

[Justin Herbert] joined Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay version) as the only players to pass for at least 2,500 yards and fewer than two picks in their first 12 games of a season. Herbert, whose interception rate is a league-low 0.3%, averaged 10.5 over his first four seasons.
