Derwin James, Jr. is helping host Good Morning Football this week.

And he's letting everybody know exactly what he thinks of Justin Herbert.

The Chargers All-Pro safety was asked to break down a talented quartet of AFC quarterback in Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.

But James made it clear that he'd roll with No. 10 any day of the week.

"He's Superman to me. In our locker room, we love him," James said. "No offense to those other guys but I wouldn't want to have any of those other guys over my quarterback. Just who he is as a person, a human being … I respect him as a man."

James was asked by GMFB host Kyle Brandt about Herbert's all-world ability but noted that the Chargers franchise quarterback has yet to win a playoff game.

James responded that Herbert's time is coming quick.

"Honestly, I feel like it's a team game. It's easy to sit up here and judge about what he can and can't do," James said. "Part of it is on the defense and we're going to help him out next year. And part of that is on the offense, too, making plays around him.

"We're all going to take that next step and he's definitely going to be in that conversation where he belongs and I can't wait for everybody to see it," James added.

Herbert turned in another strong season in 2024 by throwing for 3,870 yards with 23 touchdowns and just three interceptions.

He ranked third among quarterbacks with a Pro Football Focus passing grade of 90.2, and was fourth among QBs with an overall PFF grade of 91.2.

Herbert also showed a fiery side, too, as he continued to developed into an all-around leader in Year 1 under Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh.

James implored that Herbert's leadership is what drives the Bolts on a daily basis.

"Every day, he's leads by example. And he's great at leading by example," James said. "When we get back from games, I see a lot of times where people are cranking up their cars and leaving.

"But a light goes on in the office and he's upstairs breaking down film," James added. "He's doing all the extra stuff that nobody sees. As a leader, that's what you want and what you need. I've got a lot of respect for him."

Take a look back at the best photos of Justin Herbert's 2024 campaign. Herbert recorded 3870 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and a 101.7 passer rating in the 2024-2025 NFL season.
