Where Are the Bolts in Week 5 Power Rankings?

Power Rankings W5 Bye

The Bolts dropped a close one to the Chiefs 17-10 at home in Week 4.

The Chargers will practice Wednesday but have an early bye week.

Ahead of the Chargers bye week, NFL analysts and publications have released their power rankings. Take a look at where the Bolts are ranked as they enter Week 5.

No. 12: Josh Kendall – The Athletic (Last Week: No. 10)

It looks like Jim Harbaugh hit on his first L.A. draft class. First-round tackle Joe Alt had played 100 percent of the team's snaps and looked very good at times (three pressures allowed in 76 pass-blocking snaps, according to TruMedia) before missing Sunday's game with a knee injury. Second-round wide receiver Ladd McConkey had a career-high 67 yards Sunday and leads the team with 173 receiving yards.

No. 14: Conor Orr – Sports Illustrated (Last Week: No. 15)

There's no doubt this is a team that can finish the season with a winning record but the question becomes: what does it look like?

No. 17: Vinnie Iyer – Sporting News (Last Week: No. 13)

The Chargers have faded since their hot start against lesser teams, but their defense will keep them in most games. They just need to find more scoring pop sooner rather than later after their Week 5 bye.

No. 17: Nate Davis – USA Today (Last Week: No. 16)

No player wants a Week 5 bye, but the Bolts might also wind up reaping the benefits given their rampant injuries. And better rest up with only one home game between now and Nov. 10.

No. 18: Eric Edholm – NFL.com (Last Week: No. 14)

To what degree should we hold a close loss against this team? Despite not having Joey Bosa, Rashawn Slater, Joe Alt or Derwin James, and with Justin Herbert hobbled, the Chargers were in a position to seize control late against the Chiefs... So L.A. still fell, even with Jesse Minter's defense turning in a whale of a performance. The Chargers can rally from this after a well-timed Week 5 bye

No. 18: NFL Nation, Kris Rhim – ESPN (Last Week: No. 15)

The Chargers have been one of the NFL's best defenses, allowing the fewest points per game through four weeks (12.5). Still, this defense has been without two of its best players. Outside linebacker Joey Bosa (hip) has played just 16 snaps since Week 1 and missed Week 4. The NFL suspended safety Derwin James Jr. against the Chiefs... With these players back, the Chargers' defense would be an even more formidable unit.

No. 19: BR NFL Staff – Bleacher Report (Last Week: No. 14)

When you consider the totality of the circumstances, that the Chargers came as close as they did to knocking off the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4 is impressive. This was a team with a quarterback in Justin Herbert who could barely move in the pocket on a sprained ankle. A team that was without two of its best defenders in edge-rusher Joey Bosa and safety Derwin James.

No. 20: Pete Prisco – CBS Sports (Last Week: No. 14)

No. 20: Mike Florio – Pro Football Talk (Last Week: No. 19)

Even with all the injuries, they gave the Chiefs fits.

No. 21: Frank Schwab – Yahoo Sports (Last Week: No. 21)

The Chargers battled through many injuries and had a shot to knock off the Chiefs. One positive from the loss was rookie receiver Ladd McConkey, who had another good game and looks like he's going to be productive for a long time.

No. 25: Diante Lee – The Ringer (Last Week: No. 16)
