The Los Angeles Chargers today agreed to terms with quarterback Trey Lance.

Lance joins the Chargers after starting five-of-12 career games played with San Francisco and Dallas, totaling 1,063 passing yards and five touchdowns with four interceptions (80.3 rating). He was the No. 3 overall selection by San Francisco in the 2021 NFL Draft, coming off the bench in the season opener to make his debut by throwing a five-yard touchdown pass. Lance suffered a season-ending injury in Week 2 of the 2022 season and was traded to Dallas during training camp entering the 2023 season.

The Marshall, Minn., native appeared in 19 games over three seasons at North Dakota State (2018-20), helping the Bison win a pair of FCS National Championships (2018-19). As a redshirt freshman in 2019, Lance was named the starter and led North Dakota State to its third-straight FCS National Championship and was named the game's MVP in the 28-20 victory. He put forth a record-setting campaign that season, completing 66.9 percent of his passes (192-of-287) for 2,786 yards and 28 touchdowns with zero interceptions (180.6 efficiency rating), setting the NCAA record for the most passing attempts in a single season without an interception. He added 1,100 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground, winning the Walter Payton Award as the most outstanding player in FCS along with Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors.
