The Los Angeles Chargers today signed guard Mekhi Becton.

Becton comes to the City of Angels after starting 19 games at right guard in 2024, including the postseason, for the Super Bowl-Champion Philadelphia Eagles. The 6-7, 363-pound lineman helped pave the way for running back Saquon Barkley to rush for over 2,000 yards and 13 touchdowns en route to being named the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year by The Associated Press. Becton also protected Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts to have the most efficient season of his career, registering a 103.7 passer rating and totaling 32 touchdowns (18 passing, 14 rushing) to just five interceptions. Originally the No. 11 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, Becton has started 49-of-50 career games, including the postseason, for the Jets and Eagles.

In three seasons at the University of Louisville (2017-19), Becton appeared in 35 career games, making 33 starts for the Cardinals. As a freshman, he helped block for reigning Heisman Trophy-winner and eventual NFL MVP Lamar Jackson to rush for 1,601 yards and 18 touchdowns, while throwing for 3,660 yards and 27 touchdowns. Becton earned first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors in 2019, helping block for running back Javian Hawkins to total 1,525 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
