The Los Angeles Chargers today signed center Andre James.

James returns to Los Angeles, where he played college football at UCLA, after spending the first six seasons of his pro career with the Raiders (2019-24). He has started 61-of-80 career games (including postseason), taking over as the team's starting center in 2021. James blocked for running back Josh Jacobs to a Pro Bowl selection and first-team All-Pro honors from The Associated Press in 2022 after leading the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards along with 12 touchdown runs.

After redshirting in 2015, James was a three-year letterman for the Bruins (2016-18), starting the final 22 games of his career at right tackle. He was part of a line that improved the rushing offense by more than 40 yards per game in 2018, helping pave the path for running back Joshua Kelley to six 100-yard rushing games and total 1,243 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.
