5 Things to Know About the Chargers Ahead of Week 6

Week6 5Things

Consider this your one-stop shop on Mondays for all things Chargers.

Here are five things to know about the Bolts ahead of Week 6:

1. What happened in Week 5?

The Chargers had the weekend off as they were able to get some rest due to an early bye.

The Week 5 bye was the earliest possible open date the Bolts could have, as they were one of four teams to not play this weekend.

The Chargers used the bye week to rest and recover as they now get set for a schedule that includes 13 straight games.

2. What is the Chargers record?

The Chargers currently sit at 2-2 on the season after four games played.

The Bolts won their first two games against the Raiders and Panthers before falling to the Steelers and the Chiefs.

The Chargers currently sit in third place in the AFC West behind the Chiefs (4-0) and Broncos (3-2). The Raiders are 2-3 and sit in last place.

Oddly enough, the Chargers are the AFC's only 2-2 team. The Bolts currently occupy the seventh and final playoff spot in the conference.

3. Who has stood out so far in 2024?

Rashawn Slater has earned the Chargers top overall offensive grade via Pro Football Focus (81.7) early in the season.

The star left tackle currently ranks 12th out of all tackles with 100 offensive snaps with that PFF grade.

Slater did not play in Week 4 against the Chiefs as he left the second half of Week 3 with a pec injury.

Defensively, Khalil Mack continues to shine in his 11th pro season with an overall PFF grade of 89.8.

Mack, who has 2.5 sacks on the season, ranks eighth overall in PFF grade among all edge rushers.

4. How's the health of the squad?

The Chargers will practice Monday afternoon but don't have to put out an injury report until after Wednesday's practice.

The health of Slater and rookie Joe Alt (knee) will be monitored as both missed the Week 4 contest.

Justin Herbert's high ankle sprain has hopefully healed a bit due to the bye week.

The Bolts defense is hoping for reinforcements as Joey Bosa (hip), Junior Colson (hamstring), Ja'Sir Taylor (fibula) and Deane Leonard (hamstring) all did not play in the previous game.

Additionally, linebacker Nick Niemann practiced on Wednesday during the bye week. Niemann, one of the Chargers top special teams players, began the season on Injured Reserve. The Chargers opened his 21-day practice window last Tuesday.

5. What does Week 6 look like for the Bolts?

The Bolts are back from the bye as they get ready for a Week 6 road game in Denver.

The division-rival Broncos started 0-2 but have won three straight games behind a strong defense.

The Chargers are looking to snap a three-game skid to the Broncos on Sunday. Doing so will require a win in Denver, where the Bolts have lost nine of the past 10 meetings.
