The Los Angeles Chargers on Friday signed guard Mekhi Becton.
Here are five things to know about Becton:
1. Super Bowl champion
Becton joins the Bolts fresh off a Super Bowl victory.
The guard spent the 2024 season holding down the right guard spot for the Eagles, who triumphed over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
Becton started 15 regular-season games and four postseason games for Philadelphia, all while playing at right guard for the first time in his career.
He thrived at the new position, posting an overall Pro Football Focus grade of 75.2 in the regular season, good for 16th among guards with at least 500 snaps.
He was reliable in the trenches, too, as he allowed two or fewer pressures in 11 of his 15 regular-season games
Becton also shined as a run blocker by posting a PFF grade of 74.7, which was the 14th-best mark among all guards with 500-plus snaps.
2. Moving across the line
As previously mentioned, 2024 was Becton's first season sliding inside to guard. He played all 1,158 snaps in 2024 at right guard.
Before making the switch, the 25-year-old previously played his entire career at tackle.
Becton was drafted by the Jets and manned the left tackle position for most of his tenure there.
Aside from two games and 101 snaps at right tackle in 2023, the left tackle position was all Becton knew in the pros prior to last season.

3. Former first-round pick
Becton came into the NFL as a highly rated prospect and was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
He was the third offensive tackle selected that year and spent four years in New York as their left tackle.
Becton got off to a good start with the Jets as he posted the third-best offensive grade (74.4) and pass blocking grade (76.0) among rookie tackles with at least 500 snaps in 2020.
He played in 31 total games for New York with 30 starts.
4. Holding it down at Louisville
Becton was a three-year starter at Louisville where he worked his way to becoming one of the best offensive linemen in the ACC.
He played both right and left tackle during his time from 2017 to 2019, appearing in and starting all 33 games with the Cardinals.
Becton culminated his collegiate career by earning First-Team All-ACC honors and won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the conference's top lineman.
5. A prized recruit
The Virginia native was quite the recruit coming out of Highland Springs High School.
Standing at 6-foot-7 and a wingspan of seven feet, Becton was rated the No. 1 offensive line recruit in the state of Virginia by some outlets.
Becton was an All-State honoree in high school and helped Highland win a pair of state championships while starting at left tackle.
