Why Peyton Manning Ranked Justin Herbert as Top 5 QB

Buzz Herbert 08.19

Justin Herbert has garnered praise from some of football's biggest names throughout his career thus far — and for good reason.

Add 2021 Hall of Fame inductee Peyton Manning to the list.

In a sit-down interview with ESPN's Stephen A. Smith at Fanatics Fest, which was held in New York City this past weekend, Manning listed out his top five quarterbacks in the NFL.

Among the list of the Hall of Fame quarterback was Herbert, whom Manning ranked third overall while highlighting the fifth-year Bolts franchise quarterback's ability.

"Justin Herbert is as talented as anybody," Manning said. "He can throw it a mile."

In addition to Herbert, Manning named Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and Bills quarterback Josh Allen on his list.

Herbert owns a number of records to start his NFL career including most completions in a player's first four seasons (1,613) and most passing yards in a player's first four seasons (17,223).

And Manning, who spent some time in the AFC West at the end of his career, made sure to point out the challenge that awaits his former team in the division now with Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh in the mix.

"Harbaugh in the Broncos division, that's going to be tough," Manning said.
