The NFL offseason is about to get rolling as the 2025 New League Year is less than three weeks away.
The Chargers have notable salary cap space and also hold the No. 22 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, meaning the Bolts could be in a position to bolster their roster this spring.
Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus recently offered up a dream scenario for each NFL team in the form of an ideal free agency signing plus a possible first-round pick.
Cameron opined that the Chargers could be in the market to add wide receiver Tee Higgins. Cameron wrote:
The Chargers can afford to hand out the lucrative contract it will take to sway Higgins to Los Angeles. This team also offers something many others can't: the opportunity to play with an established passer in Justin Herbert. That could appeal to Higgins, who is well aware of an elite passer's effect on team and individual success.
Higgins, a 2020 second-round pick by the Bengals, has spent the past four seasons with Cincinnati.
He has tallied 330 receptions for 4,595 yards and 34 touchdowns in his career.
In terms of the draft, Coleman said an ideal pick would be Michigan tight end Colston Loveland.
Coleman wrote:
The Chargers can tap into a strong tight end class with a familiar face. Having already won a national championship together at Michigan, Colston Loveland and Jim Harbaugh can reunite in Los Angeles and provide this offense with a natural pass-catching threat from the tight end position.
Loveland played for Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh in college and is one of the top-rated players in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network has Loveland as his No. 7 overall prospect while The Athletic's Dane Brugler put Loveland at No. 11 in his rankings.
Loveland, who has been projected to the Bolts in recent mock drafts, had 117 catches for 1,466 yards and 11 scores in his college career.
