Dye returns to the Bolts after emerging as a key contributor on defense and continuing his reputation as a special teams stalwart. In 17 games with the Chargers in 2024, Dye made five starts at linebacker, recording career highs in tackles (52), solo tackles (31), sacks (1.5) and tackles for loss (two). A core special teamer for the Bolts, Dye had five special teams tackles for Los Angeles and was one of just six NFL players in 2024 to have 50-plus tackles on defense, multiple sacks and at least five tackles on special teams.
The Southern California native was a fourth-round pick (132nd overall) by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2020 NFL Draft, starting 13-of-77 career regular-season games with the Vikings and Chargers. For his career, Dye has 106 tackles (56 solo), 2.5 sacks, two pass breakups, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a recovery, along with 31 special teams tackles. In two postseason games, Dye recorded eight tackles (six solo) and a pass breakup.
Dye played four years at the University of Oregon (2016-19), helping the Ducks win the Pacific-12 and become Rose Bowl Champions following his final season, earning Associated Press first-team All-Pac-12 honors in the process. He led the team in tackles each of his four years, becoming the first player in program history to do so in four-straight seasons. Dye started 48 of his 50 career games with the Ducks, finishing with the third-most tackles in school annals (397). He added 15 sacks, five interceptions, 19 passes defensed, 44 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and a recovery.
