The Los Angeles Chargers signed WR Fred Trevillion, the organization announced on Monday. In a corresponding move, WR Trevion Thompson was waived/injured.
The San Diego State product participated in Chargers rookie minicamp in May and in the team's local pro day in early April.
Trevillion first suited up for the Aztecs on the defensive side of the ball in 2014 before shifting back to wide receiver at Southwest Mississippi Community College in 2016. He returned to San Diego State in 2017 at wide receiver, ending his FBS career with 34 receptions for 925 yards (27.2 avg.) and five touchdowns.
The 6-2 wide receiver was named to the Pro Football Focus National Team of the Week in 2018 after posting career highs with 189 receiving yards and two touchdowns — with both going for 70-plus yards — on four receptions (47.3 avg.) at Fresno State. The 189 yards were the most by an Aztec receiver since 2009. Trevillion led the country in 2018 with 27.2 yards-per-catch (min. 22 rec.).
