Some new faces will be on the field at Chargers Park when the Bolts return to action this afternoon as the Chargers signed WR Rico Richardson and DT Zamir Carlis. In a corresponding move, the team waived OL Mike McQueen and P Kasey Redfern.
The 6-1, 185-pound Richardson spent parts of the past two seasons with the Tennessee Titans, appearing in six games. He initially entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Jackson State with the Kansas City Chiefs, and was most recently with the Arizona Cardinals this offseason. Richardson played in 43 games with 20 starts at Jackson State, recording 146 catches for 2,722 yards, averaging 18.6 yards per catch with 26 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Carlis is a 6-4, 275-pound product out of Stillman, Alabama, who posted 38 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks as a senior last season. He took part in Chargers rookie minicamp as a non-contract participant in May.
