The Los Angeles Chargers announced today that the team has placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on tight end Hunter Henry.
Henry set single-season career highs last year in receptions (55) and receiving yards (652) for an 11.9 yards-per-catch average with five touchdown catches. Originally a second-round selction by the Chargers, Henry was an All-Rookie selection by the Professional Football Writers of America in 2016 when he tied for the league lead among tight ends with eight touchdown catches.
The Arkansas product sits inside the top 10 in franchise history among tight ends in receptions, yards and receiving scores. Henry won the team's Ed Block Courage Award in 2019 after overcoming a knee injury that sidelined him for the 2018 regular season to start the 2018 AFC Divisional at New England.
